Redfish, Tarpon And Snook

Report Date: July 1, 2017

The redfish bite has been good on high to outgoing tides. I love using pilchards and live shrimp on a float, running down the shadow line of the mangroves.

Tarpon are still here. Look for the cleanest water to sight fish for these guys. Lighten your leaders if the water quality is really clear. A snell knot can help you get the hook in the top of the mouth helping prevent chaffing on your leader. Threadfins, crabs, pinfish and purple demon colored mirror lures can work great in getting a bite!

Sharks are everywhere. If you would like a shot at a spinning, blacktip or an Atlantic sharp nose to pull some drag, try dead bait. It works best allowing the shark to get an easy meal.

Snook are in full spawn on the beaches. Green backs and grunts have been working best on outgoing tides. Thirty pound leader helps get them all the way in. If water quality is a little dirtier than normal, you can use a stronger leader.
