January Fishing Report
Report Date: January 28, 2017
What unexpected weather we're having - warm, then cold, then warm and lots of wind. We're also seeing some dirty water which can change things in the fishing world. Using south winds to your advantage can work in you favor as it pushes more water in the flats than predicted and allows you to work the shore lines that have clear water. Also, the increased depths help push the fish in to concentration areas where you can capitalize on multiple fish in one spot!
The redfish bite has been ok with shrimp greenies, pinfish working the best! We're still catching a few snook with this crazy warmer weather on greenies, shrimp and finger mullet. The trout bite has been better. We're finding them in the clean water using top water walk-the-dog action. Jerk baits worked in a jerk-jerk-pause always can get great reaction bites. Change you motion and speed to see what the fish want. Then remember, the bite on that tide as it can remain the same for a while.
Tight Lines,
Captain Dustin
