Happy New Year!
Report Date: January 8, 2019
Cold fronts are here causing wind, rain, and what we hate the most - dirty water! In between fronts, the trout bite has really turned on with almost all of the trout being solid fish. Quarter once jigs with mirror lure little Johns worked slowly on the bottom can provide nonstop action. Live shrimp under a popping cork and silver dollar size pinfish are always great to have on hand.
The redfish bite has been consistent on the higher tides stacking them up closer together makes it easier to produce multiple catches. Live shrimp on a jig head can get the job done, especially pitched in cuts in mangroves and creek areas. There’s been some permit around using a 1/4 or 1/8 ounce docs jig tipped with shrimp worked very slow on the bottom. Look for more and more big trout to get stacked up as fronts continue to come.
Tight Lines,
Captain Dustin
