Target Snook In Moving Water

Report Date: July 30, 2016

As the summer heat continues, each day of fishing can be different from the next! Keep moving from spot to spot to try and find the fish that are willing to eat. Enticing them with different baits to see what they want can be the difference between fishing and catching! Pilchards, pinfish, grunts, lady fish, mullet are all good baits to try.

The snook bite continues to be good on moving water. Try switching to different size leaders, starting with the heaviest first to see if they will eat it, if no bites, I recommend dropping it down to see if they are leader shy. Also try matching your hooks to the size of your bait.

The redfish bite has been increasing in numbers with some over slot bull reds starting to move into their summertime hangouts. Whitebait and shrimp are always a great start. When the bite is tough try switching to different species like black drum, Spanish mackerel or shark which can make a tough day turn into excitement! Always remember to stay hydrated in this heat.
